P&C Meeting – Wednesday 13th June 2018

Just a reminder that the P&C meeting is being held tomorrow, Wednesday 13th June commencing at 9.30am in the staffroom. We will be discussing PBL Positive Behaviour for Learning, which is being implemented at our school this year. Mrs Matthews will present a matrix of expected behaviours for areas within the school. We would love to see you there and hear your ideas and suggestions.

ICAS Dates

The following dates for ICAS:

ICAS Science – Monday 28th May

ICAS Spelling – Wednesday 13th June

ICAS Writing – Thursday 14th June

Year 1 and 2 Incursion

Students in Stage 1 are studying the Science unit ‘Earth and Space’. In this unit students learn about natural disasters and how they affect the land. To expand on this learning, an incursion has been organised at the school by Bricks 4 Kidz – an educational play workshop with LEGO bricks.

Students In Years 1 and 2 will be participating in a session about the powerful forces of nature. They will explore the when, where & why of natural phenomenon.

The incursion is on Wednesday 27th June 2018.

There is no travel involved as the Bricks 4 Kidz program comes to the school and is set up in the hall.

The cost of the incursion is $12.00.

If your child is in Year 1 or 2 please sign and return their permission note with $12.00 to cover the incursion no later than Friday 22nd June.

Due to booking requirements we are unable to accept payments after this date. If your child is absent on the day we are unable to offer a refund as the incursion is pre-paid.

Kindergarten Curious Kids Workshop

Students in Kindergarten will be studying the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) unit, Material World. To extend on this learning, we are going to have a visit at school by Fizzics Education. Students will be participating in a session led by an expert guide. They will investigate and use their senses to discover how Science, Mathematical and Engineering activities work.

The incursion is on Friday 29th June 2018.

There is no travel required as the workshop comes to the school and is set up in the hall. The cost of the incursion is $12.00.

Attached to the Kindergarten newsletter’s this week is a permission note. Please sign and return the permission note to your child’s class teacher with the payment of $12.00 no later than Friday 15th June.

Ultimo Dance Festival

Our Diamond Dance Group have successfully auditioned and been selected to showcase their item ‘Why Fit In When You Were Born To Stand Out’ in the NSW Department of Education’s Ultimo Public Schools Dance Festival. The Diamond Dance group auditioned against hundreds of schools from the greater Sydney region and was fortunate enough to be selected.

The students will be required to attend a day time rehearsal, and perform in one evening performance, all on Monday 18th June 2018. They will also be taking part in a dance workshop on the day.

Information packs have been sent home with all students who will be attending. Please ensure the following notes are returned by Friday 25th May:

  • Permission note with $10.00 to cover the cost of the workshop
  • Medical Information Form
  • Student Participation & Consent Deed
  • Permission to Publish
  • Behaviour Code for Students Parent/Carer Consent Form

Yeronga School Uniforms

Our school uniforms are available from Yeronga School Uniforms (900 Canterbury Rd, Canterbury).  Their trading hours are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, Saturday 9am – 2pm and Sunday 10am – 2pm.
