Christmas Walk

DSC_9184aThe children had a great time entertaining the community on our Christmas Walk this week. They sang carols whilst walking through Narwee Shopping Centre to celebrate the coming Christmas season and finished back at school where they were joined by their parents for a sausage sizzle.

Giving Tree

As part of Narwee Public School’s Christmas Carol Walk that is taking place on Wednesday 6th December 2017, the boys and girls of Narwee will be presenting toys that will be donated to needy families in the Christmas Season. The SRC will choose a charity to distribute the toys on behalf of Narwee Public School.

All toys need to be given to your child’s class teacher.

We ask that these gifts be left unwrapped and new. These donations need not be expensive as we are trying to teach the children that Christmas is a time of giving and caring for others.

Please do not bring in second hand toys.

All gifts need to be handed in by Friday 1st December (Week 8) and remember there is a prize for the class which has the greatest participation.

Christmas Walk

Our annual Christmas Walk is being held on Wednesday 6th December. A permission note has been sent home with all students.

The Christmas walk is based on a Nativity Theme so it would be wonderful if all children could enter into the occasion by coming dressed as one of the following:

  • Shepherd
  • Angel
  • Wise Man
  • Star

As with previous years we will have a number of costumes that can be hired from the school. Ideas for costumes will also be published each fortnight in the newsletter.

The canteen will also be holding a sausage sizzle to celebrate our Christmas Walk. We look forward to all of our students taking part in this wonderful event.

Year 6 Fundraising Day

On Wednesday 15th November Year 6 will be holding their annual Fundraising Day. Activities will be held between lunch and recess.

It is time to start saving up your money for the Year 6 Fund Day – this is a very exciting day that allows Year 6 to raise money to help cover the costs of their Year 6 Farewell. Tokens can be purchased prior to the day.

These tokens can be used to have turns at fun activities like the fairy garden or to buy an ice-cream spider. There will be lots of activities for students to participate in, so do some chores and save up your money!

Yeronga School Uniforms

As part of our Kindergarten Transition, Yeronga School Uniforms will be visiting the school to sell uniforms to our new kinder families.

On this day they will also be bringing a selection of bigger size clothing for our existing families to purchase if needed.

If your child is in need of new school uniform items, Yeronga will be here at 9:00am on Wednesday 25th October for you to purchase any items required.

Year 6 News

All Year 6 students who are enrolled in a government high school for 2017 should receive information from their high school in relation to the state-wide Orientation Day. This year it is being held on Tuesday 5th December.

Details of the time, what to bring, what to wear and where to meet vary between each school. Please check with your child’s high school if parents are required to attend the day or not, as some schools like parents to stay with their child to get important information. Families are responsible for transport to and from these Orientation Days.

Lockdown Drill

There will be a Lockdown Drill during lunchtime on Wednesday 1st December. Drills such as this are essential so that in the event of an emergency all staff and students are well practised in what they do.

Lockdown is a procedure used when there is an immediate threat to the school e.g. school intruder.

Lockdown minimises access to the school and secures staff and students in rooms. As part of the procedure, everyone must remain in a room until the situation has been declared safe by an authorised person such as the Principal or Police Officer. If you hear our emergency siren on the day please do not be alarmed.

Kindergarten Enrolment

Kindergarten enrolments for 2018 are being accepted for all eligible siblings of those already enrolled at our school.
Children must turn 5 before 1st August 2018 to be able to enrol for next year. Please call at the front office if you need to collect an enrolment form or alternatively you can download one from out school website.
